Zoots Night Club – Kings Lynn – September 2012

Zoots and The Priory

A little history:

The Pilot cinema on Pilot Street was built by local business man Ben Culey in 1938. It was the last word in luxury with its plush seats and curtains.

Apparently Snow white and the 7 dwarfs was first picture shown at the Pilot.

The Pilot Cinema underwent a 2 million transformation creating Zoots nightclub (completed in 1999).

Zoots Night Club closed its doors for the last time on Saturday, January 26th 2008, with a message on its website simply stating “We’re sorry but Zoots nightclub is now closed.”

The plan was to refurbish it but this didn’t happen and a new message on the nightclub’s website stated “We are very sorry to inform you that we are now closed and will not be reopening.”

The explore:

The main room is a mess. It looks like they might have started ripping the dance floor up for for refurbishment then stopped work when plans changed.

The other bar/ dancefloor upstairs (The Priory) is in much better condition. I think the sort of chill out room to the side is being used by the homeless as there are lots of empty recent food packets on a table. The office area absolutely stinks of tramps piss too!

Apologies for the quality of a lot of the photos, had to use the flash as it was very dark in most of the building and I only had a crap torch on me.

Below I’ve created a ghost of the building showing its former glory mixed with the boarded up dilapidated building it is today.

They left all the takings behind!
I wonder if it was a good night, there’s a lot of unsold tickets.
